This art museum is located within the perimeter of Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The museum opened in June 2008 with the aim of widely exhibiting the paintings and craft works of famous artists that it has collected over the years, as well as to contribute to local culture in the Harima region, of which Himeji is a part. The museum has a collection of approximately 800 ceramic pieces and 200 paintings. Reception, a store, and rest area are located on the second floor, special exhibitions (both ceramics and paintings) on the 3rd floor, special exhibitions (paintings only) and other large paintings on the 4th floor, and a rental space, rental tea rooms, and reception rooms are located on the 5th floor.

The permanent exhibition features works by Ryuichi Kakurezaki, a uniquely creative Bizen ware ceramic artist; Susumu Maki, a painter of Japanese-style "nihonga," who depicts the world of the four seasons with delicacy and grace; Koichi Nabatame, who paints delicately and elegantly from sketches of traditional Japanese landscapes and bird-and-flower motifs; and Seiji Togo, known for his sweet female portraits. Special exhibitions change every three months, replacing most of the ceramics and paintings on the third floor to create a different mood with each presentation.
In the parlor on the 5th floor, visitors can relax and enjoy a view of Himeji Castle. On equest, visitors can be shown around the rooftop, which is also a great photo spot.
The Miki Museum is a quiet, relaxing, and luxurious place to spend some time. There are sofas in the exhibition rooms, so visitors can take their time and take in their favorite paintings.
