Himeji Castle – A Fortress That Withstood the Test of Time

Himeji Castle has withstood earthquakes, wars, and modernization, remaining intact for over 400 years. Unlike many other castles destroyed during World War II, Himeji Castle emerged unscathed. Eventually, it gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 1993 and remains one of Japan’s 12 original castles.
