HistoryHiromine Jinja Shrine
At the end of the Nara Period (710-794), when Japanese scholar Kibi no Makibi returned from China, he ascended Mt. Hakuhei in the Hiromine Mountains, where he received the trust of the deity Gozu Tenno. He reported this to the Emperor, and the following year he constructed the main shrine building of Hiromine Shrine.
Today, both the main hall and the worship hall are nationally-designated important cultural properties and are among the largest in Japan.
