MuseumsHimeji City Archaeological Research Center
The Archaeological Research Center conducts surveys and research on the buried cultural properties (archaeological sites and artifacts) that form the historical heritage of the region, and carefully stores items found at these archaeological sites.
The center offers special exhibitions and lecture, tours of historical remains, magatama (tear-shaped beads from prehistoric Japan)-making workshops and more, designed to help the public become more familiar with these buried cultural properties.
Miyama Kofun Park to the south of the museum is also a wonderful place to enjoy the changing seasons, with cherry blossoms in the spring and colorful maples in the fall.
