Discover the soul of Japanese architecture through "kawara" (traditional roof tiles). This immersive tour invites you to see, touch, and create "ibushi-gawara"—regarded as the highest quality of Japanese roof tiles.
Founded in 1920, Koyo Seiga is a kiln that has been producing traditional Japanese ibushi roof tiles for over 100 years.
They played a vital role in the "Great Heisei Restoration" of Himeji Castle, from inspecting and selecting existing tiles to crafting new ones and installing them on the roof.
The signature “ibushi-gin” (smoky silver) luster is created when a carbon film forms on the surface of the tiles during the firing process.
At the factory, you can observe up close how traditional craftsmanship is combined with modern technology.
You can also try your hand at crafting an original photo frame using authentic tile materials.
Best of all, your creation will be ready to take home the same day!
Lunch is served at Kungin-Bettei, a tile-roofed Japanese residence located on-site.
In the afternoon, visit Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
During the peak of spring, enjoy a guided tour through the cherry blossom-filled grounds while discovering how Koyo Seiga’s craftsmanship is reflected in the castle’s tile work and deepening your appreciation of Himeji Castle’s beauty and history.

透過支撐日本傳統建築的「瓦片」，探索日本美學的靈魂。在這個體驗型手作之旅中，您將親自「觀察、觸摸、創作」被譽為瓦片中極品的「燻銀瓦」，感受其獨特魅力。
創立於1920年的「光洋製瓦」窯元，百年以來持續製作日本傳統的「燻銀瓦」。在姬路城「平成大修復」期間，光洋製瓦參與了瓦片的調查、挑選、新瓦片製作以及屋頂鋪設，甚至負責了大天守閣的屋瓦與象徵性的鯱瓦。
燻銀瓦最具特色的 「燻銀光澤」，是瓦片在燒製過程中於表面形成碳膜而產生的。隨著歲月流逝，光澤會愈加深邃，展現出獨特的美感。
在工廠內，您可以近距離觀察傳統技藝與現代技術的完美融合。
您還可以嘗試用瓦片材料製作獨一無二的相框。完成後即可當天帶回家。
午餐將會在光洋製瓦園區內的瓦頂日式宅邸「薰銀別邸」享用。
下午您將前往世界文化遺產—姬路城。
